My name is Clay Hicks, and I have been with the Raleigh Fire Department for 23 years. As captain, I have worked with many different personalities who approach life many different ways. The thing that drew me to this job, and the reason I still enjoy coming to work is that it gives me the opportunity to help others in a unique way. This is also why I chose to become a member of the Peer Support team. I understand that everyone goes through hard times, some harder, or more often than others. This is not something to be taken lightly or to be ashamed of. I’m glad this resource, that has been missing for first responders for too long, is now available, and I’m glad to be a part of it.
